Anna Riphahn, author and illustrator, died in a car accident in 1998 at age 17.; Signed by Author(s)

Yellow cloth covers with attached front cover graphic. True First, spine has a picture of Handy Mandy and NOT a fish. Covers are clean. Minor shelf wear. Strong corners. 6 or 7 small dark spots on for edge of block, top and bottom clean. "This book belongs to" filled out with place and date of 1937 in pen. A few pages (roughly 5) have smudges or finger prints. Pages are just slightly yellowed. Hinges are solid and block is in good shape. Jacket is nearly complete but with heavy chipping and crease lines. Jacket also shows surface wear but colors remain bright. Other books listed on back flap have been checked off in pencil (impressive collection).

Copyright page states print date of 1933. Later printing of 1st Ed. shows "Fancy" Reilly & Lee on spine with 12 color plates. Blue cloth covers with attached front cover graphic. Moderate shelf wear and light bumping at corners though corners remain square. Block edges are dust stained and foredge has impact mark from front to back in the top half of book. "This book belongs to" filled out in pencil with "xmas-1936" Half-Title page has small chip in the bottom edge. "4.50" written in pencil on back pastedown. Text slightly yellowed with scattered light smudging. DJ is missing bottom 1 1/2" of spine with tear continuing into front and back covers. Scattered chipping and tears as well as surface damage are visible. Cover remains bright and attractive. Despite listed flaws, this is still a very good-fine copy.

A tear on the back 1 1/2" from spine starts at the bottom and continues up 3/4 of the book, turns and runs across spine and 1" onto front, jacket cover protects from further tearing or damage.

Scattered chipping throughout the rest of the jacket focused on the top of the spine. Other books listed on back flap have been checked off in pencil (impressive collection).
