N/D [1880-81]. Quarter bound leather with marbled paper covered boards. Book slightly cocked. Covers show moderate surface and edge wear. Binding tight. Text yellowed at edges but clean and in very good condition. Former owner's signature dated April 15, 1887 on ffep. The Standard Series was the first publishing venture of what would become Funk & Wagnalls. The Standard Series offered discounted editions of "standard" religious and literary works in paper covers. Internal hinges sound though binding is slightly loose. Text shows a moderate amount of marginalia and several dogeared pages. Verse and scripture neatly penned on end pages and blank pages throughout text.
